School House System: House spirit. All year long.

Put every child in a house, save points from the field on your phone, and the standings add themselves up. Every point stays on the record — a mistake is reversed, never rubbed out.

What is a school house system?

Four houses. One fair tally.

A school house system splits students into a few houses — like Tagore, Raman, Shivaji and Ashoka — that compete all year. In Inkwelly, teachers give and deduct house points for sports, culture, studies and discipline, every entry is kept in a points ledger, and the standings for the session add themselves up.

Also called a house points system, an inter-house competition tracker or house management software.

Why schools move house points from chart paper to an app

Chart paper. Arguments. Or one tally.

On paper, house points live on a staff-room wall and in a dozen WhatsApp messages. In Inkwelly, every point is saved once and the standings add themselves up.

How most schools do it today

A chart on the wall. Results on WhatsApp. Totals by hand.

  • Points written on chart paper in the staff room, added up by hand
  • Results passed around on WhatsApp — some never reach the chart
  • A wrong total is rubbed out and rewritten, and nobody knows why
  • New children put in a house by guesswork — one house fills up
  • Captains and house masters live in someone's diary

With Inkwelly

Saved on the app. Added up for you. On the record.

  • Points saved on the app; the standings add themselves up
  • A whole event saved at once, for every house
  • A wrong entry is reversed with a reason — both stay on record
  • New children get a suggested house: siblings together, the smallest house in the class
  • Captains for each session and house masters, on every house's page

Record inter-house competition results from the field

A whole race. One save.

On Sports Day, the teacher names the event, taps each house's place and saves. The points for each place are the school's own. The standings add it up — nobody totals anything.

  1. 1Name the event
  2. 2Tap each house's place
  3. 3Save — the standings add it up

Sample school. Event results save one entry per house; One award can go to a single child, and counts for their house.

My House in the Inkwelly app, for students and parents

Their house. In their pocket.

Children and parents open My House in the Inkwelly app: their house and its place, the House Cup, what the child added this year, who leads the house and its latest wins.

Sample student. My House sits in the Inkwelly app's menu once your school uses Houses.

House points ledger: every award and deduction on record

Nothing rubbed out. Ever.

Every entry shows the house, the reason, the note, the date and who gave it. A wrong one is reversed with a reason — the original stays, marked Reversed — so nobody argues over a total.

  1. 1Find the wrong entry
  2. 2Reverse it, with a reason
  3. 3Both stay on the record

Sample school, 9:40 am. Only staff allowed to manage house points can reverse. An entry is reversed once; nothing is ever edited or deleted.

House allocation for new students — siblings together, classes balanced

Fair houses. From day one.

Pick a class and every child without a house gets a suggestion, with the reason. Brothers and sisters go together; everyone else goes to the smallest house in their class. Check it, change anything, place them in one tap.

Sample class. The portal suggests a house the same way when you add students to a house.

A house system made for Indian schools

Made for Indian schools. And their houses.

The houses, events and habits Indian schools already run — already there.

  • Your house names, in Hindi too

Tagore, Raman, Shivaji, Ashoka — or Red and Blue. Names and mottos can be added in Hindi for the Hindi app and portal.

  • Sports Day in one save

A race, a march-past or a rangoli contest: give 1st to 4th to every house at once, with your own points for each place.

  • Brothers and sisters together

Many families have two or three children in one school. A new child is suggested their sibling's house.

  • April to March

Points and captains belong to the session, so the cup restarts every April. Children keep their house all through school.

  • District and state wins count

When your school turns it on, a verified achievement adds points to the child's house — at the share you choose.

  • Discipline, kept fair

Deductions carry a reason and the name of who made them. A wrong one is reversed in the open, never erased.

Houses for sports teachers, the principal, coordinators and families

One tally. Everyone in the loop.

Each person sees and does what their role allows — nothing more.

  • Sports & activity teachers

Save a whole event for every house from the app, or give points to one child, right after it happens.

  • Principal

Standings ready for assembly, every entry with who gave it, and the say on reversing a wrong one.

  • House coordinator

Sets up houses and crests, sorts new children with suggestions, and appoints captains each session.

  • Students & parents

My House in the Inkwelly app: the house's place, what the child added, the captains and the latest wins.

Ask Inkwelly AI about house points, in English or Hindi

Ask about houses. Get the standings.

Ask in English, Hindi or Hinglish. Inkwelly AI reads your houses — the standings, any child's house, who earned the most — and answers with names and numbers, or does the work once you approve.

Houses connected to students, classes, achievements and events

Saved once. Counted everywhere.

Siblings and classes come from the student record, wins can come from Achievements, and every point reaches the standings and the family app.

School house system: questions schools ask.

  • A school house system splits students into a few houses — like Tagore, Raman, Shivaji and Ashoka — that compete all year. In Inkwelly, teachers give and deduct house points for sports, culture, studies and discipline, every entry is kept in a points ledger, and the standings for the session add themselves up.

  • On the Inkwelly staff app, House Points has two tabs: Event results, for a whole event, and One award, for a single house or child. On the portal, it's Houses › Points Ledger › Award points. Each entry needs a reason and can carry a note.

  • Yes. Name the event, pick a reason, then tap 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th for each house and save once. The points for each place start at 20, 15, 10 and 5 — tap to change them to your school's scale.

  • Yes. In One award, choose A student and search by name or admission number — their house fills in by itself. The points count for the house, and the child sees them in My House.

  • Yes. Choose Deduct with a reason such as Discipline and a note. The deduction shows who made it and when, and it counts in the standings like any other entry.

  • Open the entry in the Points Ledger and tap Reverse this entry, with a reason. A Reversal entry with the opposite points is added and the original is marked Reversed. Nothing is edited or deleted, and an entry can be reversed only once.

  • Only staff whose role allows managing house points. Giving points and reversing them are separate permissions, so a teacher can award without being able to undo anyone's entries.

  • By adding up every entry of the session for each house — awards, deductions and reversals. Houses on equal points share a rank, so a tie is never shown as a win. The standings also show where each house's points came from, by reason.

  • Pick a class in Sort a Class on the staff app, or Add students on a house page in the portal. Each child without a house gets a suggestion — their sibling's house first, otherwise the smallest house in their class — and you place them in one tap. Inkwelly AI can split a whole class or the school evenly.

  • By default, yes. If a child's sibling already has a house, Inkwelly suggests the same one, using the sibling links in the student record. You can still choose another house.

  • Points and captains belong to the session, so the standings start at zero and new captains are appointed. Children keep their house from year to year — nobody needs to be sorted again.

  • Yes, from the house's roster: Move to another house. The points they earned stay with their old house, and their history is kept.

  • Yes. Each house can have a captain, a vice-captain and prefects for the current session — students who are members of that house. House masters and house teachers come from your staff and stay from year to year.

  • Yes. Each house has a name, a short code like TAG or RAM, one of six colours (red, blue, green, yellow, orange or purple), a crest from your media library, a motto and a display order. Names and mottos can be added in Hindi too.

  • Up to eight by default — most Indian schools have four. A house with history can be retired instead of deleted: it leaves the standings and keeps its records.

  • Yes, in My House in the Inkwelly app: their house and its place, the House Cup, the child's own points with the teacher's notes, the captains and the house's recent wins. Other children's deductions are never listed.

  • They can. In Achievements settings, turn on Send points to houses and choose the multiplier — a verified award then adds points to the child's house, and un-verifying it takes them back off.

  • Not today. Families see their house's place and wins in My House in the Inkwelly app, and the standings are ready on the portal for assembly.

  • Yes, on plans with Inkwelly AI. Ask “kaunsa house jeet raha hai?”, “who earned the most points?” or “Aarav ka house?” in English, Hindi or Hinglish. It can also record points or split a class evenly — after you approve.

  • Houses comes with the Standard plan, at ₹99 per student per year (GST extra), and with Premium. Plans run ₹49–₹199 per student per year, with ₹0 migration, training and setup.
