charge late fees on the balance a family still owes
New feature shipped to Inkwelly— India's most actively developed school management software. This change is in production at real Indian schools today, not on a roadmap.
- Fees: Schools now choose what a percentage late fee applies to in the student fee module — the full invoice, or only what a family still owes. A parent who has paid most of their fee is fined on the remainder rather than the whole bill. Existing rules keep their current behaviour until a school switches them over.
- Recalculate fines: A new option on the late fees screen re-checks every fine already raised against the school's current setting and lowers any that were higher under the old one. It shows a full preview, down to individual bills, before anything changes.
- Fees: A bill whose fee has been paid in full but still carries an earlier fine no longer keeps adding to it.
- Transport and hostel: Bus and hostel fees follow the same setting, so a school runs one late-fee policy across all three. Hostel late fees can also now be switched on from the hostel fee settings, with their own grace period. See the transport module.
This isn't a roadmap. It's already running in your competitor's school.
Every update on the Inkwelly changelog is in production at real Indian schools today. If you're tired of ERP vendors who promise features for “next quarter”, let's talk. We run a 90-day paid pilot with a pro-rata refund and full data export.
