School Bus Tracking & Transport: Every bus. Every stop.
Parents watch the bus come on a live map and hear the moment their child is on board. The office runs routes, drivers, papers, diesel and bus fees from the same place.
What is a school transport management system?
One system for every school bus.
A school transport management system is school software that runs the school's buses — routes and stops, the vehicles and their papers, drivers and attendants, and which child rides which bus. Inkwelly also shares the bus's live location with parents, tells them when their stop is next and when their child is on board, and keeps bus fees in the same place.
Also called school bus tracking software, a school bus management system or transport ERP for schools.

Why schools move the school bus from phone calls to an app
Calls. Groups. Receipt books. Or one live map.
Without a system, the bus is a morning of phone calls. In Inkwelly, parents can see it — and the office runs fees, papers and diesel from one place.
How most schools do it today
A route chart, a parents' group and a receipt book.
- Parents ring the driver or the office to ask where the bus is
- A parents' WhatsApp group fills up with “bus kahan hai?” every morning
- Nobody at home knows whether the child actually got on
- Bus fees on a receipt book and a separate Excel sheet
- Insurance, fitness and PUC dates on a sticky note
With Inkwelly
The bus on the map. Parents told. The office in order.
- Parents watch the bus on a live map in the Inkwelly app
- A message when the bus starts, when their stop is next and when it arrives
- The attendant taps each child on — parents hear the moment it's saved
- Bus fees by distance or by stop, with invoices, receipts and dues in one place
- Papers, licences and service dates listed before they lapse
School bus tracking app for parents
Where's the bus? On the map.
Parents open the Inkwelly app and see the bus move, the minutes to their stop and whether their child is on board. The phone in the bus shares the location — no GPS box to buy.
- 1The bus starts — the map goes live
- 2“You're next” before your stop
- 3On board — told at once
Sample route. Location is shared only while a trip runs, from the driver's or attendant's phone.
School bus attendance app for drivers and attendants
Tap a face. Parents know.
The bus reaches the stop, the attendant taps each child on and the bus moves on. Each family gets a WhatsApp the moment their child is marked — and a child whose parent said “not coming” is already greyed out.
- 1Reached the stop
- 2Tap each child on
- 3Parents told at once
Sample run. Messages go on the channels your school turns on — WhatsApp, SMS, email or the Inkwelly app.
Transport management for the school office: routes, fees, papers and fuel
The whole fleet. One screen.
Which routes ran on time, what the bus fees brought in, which papers are about to lapse and what each bus burns in diesel — the transport in-charge sees it all in one place.

School transport system: questions schools ask.
The driver or attendant starts the trip in the Inkwelly driver app, and that phone shares the bus's location every few seconds while the trip runs. Parents see it on a map in the Inkwelly app, with the minutes and stops to theirs; the school sees every bus on its live map. Sharing stops when the trip ends.
No. The phone in the bus, with the Inkwelly driver app, is the tracker — the driver's or the attendant's. Location is shared only during a trip.
When the bus starts the run, when it reaches the stop before theirs (“you're next”), when it reaches their stop, and when their child is marked boarded, dropped or absent. A “few minutes away” alert can come in the app too. They go on the channels your school switches on — WhatsApp, SMS, email or the Inkwelly app — in English or Hindi.
On the driver app, stop by stop. The attendant taps Boarded or Absent beside each child's photo, or “All boarded here” for the whole stop. On a weak signal the marks are saved on the phone and sync when it's back online.
The parent marks it in the Inkwelly app — the whole day, pickup only or drop only. The driver's list shows “Parent: not coming today”, so nobody waits at the stop and no wrong alert goes home.
When the driver finishes a trip, the app checks for any child still marked on board. If there is one, it stops and asks; confirming the bus is empty anyway records a safety alert for the transport team.
Yes. The parent's live bus screen shows the driver's name and the bus number with a call button.
Yes. The driver app switches between English and Hindi in one tap, and parents get bus messages in English or Hindi.
By distance slab or by stop, in installments, with concessions, fines and late fees. Invoices go to parents with the PDF and a payment link, payments get receipts, and dues are tracked for each child — separate from school fees.
Yes, when your school has online payments set up: the invoice message carries a UPI payment link. Cash, cheque and UPI paid at the office are recorded too, with a receipt.
Yes. Each bus keeps its papers — RC, insurance, fitness, permit, PUC or any type you add — with expiry dates, and each driver's licence date sits with them. The Transport Command Center shows what has lapsed and what's due in the next 30, 60 and 90 days.
Yes. Drivers log each fill with the pump bill photo — cash, UPI or on the pump's credit — and note the meter before the first run and after the last. Inkwelly works out the kilometres and the km per litre for each bus.
Yes, from the app: a route or stop change, a short break or a withdrawal. The transport office approves or rejects it, and makes the change on the rider's record.
Yes. Teachers and staff get a route and stop like students do, and appear on the same rider lists.
Up to two — the morning pickup and the afternoon drop — each with its own boarding record. A child's pickup and drop stops can be different.
Yes, on plans with Inkwelly AI. Ask “Route 4 ki bus kahan tak pahunchi?”, “whose papers expire this month?” or “transport dues by class” in English, Hindi or Hinglish, and get names, numbers or an Excel. The AI reads transport records; for the live position it points you to the map.
Yes. Inkwelly works in English and Hindi, the driver app has Hindi, and parents get bus messages in English or Hindi.
Yes. Send us your route charts, rider lists and bus fee chart — from Excel, paper or your old software — and we set up the stops, routes, buses and riders at no cost. You check them, then pick the first ride.
Transport with live bus tracking comes with the Standard plan, at ₹99 per student per year (GST extra). Plans run ₹49–₹199 per student per year, with ₹0 migration, training and setup.
