New feature shipped to Inkwelly— India's most actively developed school management software. This change is in production at real Indian schools today, not on a roadmap.
Remove background: Cut-outs now keep clean edges around hair, dupattas and shoulders, with no white or coloured halo when you place the photo on an ID-card blue or white background. Stray specks are cleaned up automatically. Finding the subject runs on our servers, so even a basic Android phone gets the same result as a laptop, with no big download.
Touch up: A new Erase and Restore brush fixes anything the AI missed: zoom in up to 8x, pan around, set brush size and softness, and undo stroke by stroke. An Edge slider tightens or loosens the outline, and you can check the cut-out on white, black or a red overlay before saving.
Saving: Photos with the background removed now always save as transparent PNGs, even when the original was a JPEG. Background colour, padding and crop save exactly as previewed, and undo after a cut-out or crop works reliably. Available in English and Hindi wherever schools edit photos in the media library.
