give a discount or charge a fine on any bus bill

New feature shipped to Inkwelly— India's most actively developed school management software. This change is in production at real Indian schools today, not on a roadmap.

  • Transport fees: Office staff can now take money off a specific bus bill, or charge a fine for damage, a lost bus card or misuse of the bus. Pick which bill it lands on, or park it and add it to the next one. Anything applied can be undone, and the bill returns to exactly what it was. See the transport module.
  • Bus concessions: Concessions set to cover only part of the fare — the base fare but not the fuel surcharge, say — now apply correctly, including to the main transport fee itself. Schools running sibling, staff-ward or EWS bus concessions will see the right amount on the next bill.
  • Parents: Every bus bill now spells out why it differs from the full amount, listing each concession, discount and waived fine on screen and on the printed PDF, in both English and Hindi.
  • Notifications: Families get a WhatsApp, SMS, email or app alert when a bus fine is added to a bill — only once it actually reaches a bill, so the message always quotes a real bill number they can pay against.
  • Access control: Raising a bus bill and writing one off are now separate permissions, so a school can let its transport clerk issue invoices while reserving discounts and fines for the accountant.
