Delhi shifts board-class remedials to a 7:30-10:30 AM slot from May 11 parental NOC mandatory
Delhi's directorate of education compressed Class 9, 10 and 12 remedial classes into a 7:30-10:30 AM heat-shifted slot from May 11 till May 23, with parental NOC, online attendance and a one-hour period cap mandatory at every government and aided school.

NEW DELHI, May 10 — The Directorate of Education on May 8 ordered Delhi's government and aided schools to compress Class 9, 10 and 12 remedial classes into a 7:30 to 10:30 AM heat-shifted slot from May 11 till May 23, with parental NOC, online attendance marking and a one-hour period cap mandatory at every campus.
For schools that just spent two months running heat-shifted assemblies and water bells, the May 8 circular is one more compliance clock — but a sharper one. Every school in the directorate's ambit must submit its remedial timetable to the concerned DDE (Zone) before May 11, route NOC consent through parents in writing, and flag students arriving without uniform. Office staff have less than a week to set the workflow.
Summer vacation begins for all Delhi government and aided schools on May 11 and runs until June 30, but Classes 9, 10 and 12 will continue to attend mornings-only sessions till May 23. Class 9 and 10 remedials must focus on Science and Mathematics; Class 12 subjects can be picked by the school principal "as per the requirements of students," the directorate said in its circular. Teachers attend the school from 7:20 to 11:00 AM; students from 7:30 to 10:30 AM. Each period is capped at one hour. Students must arrive in school uniform; attendance is to be marked online and reported to the Zone DDE. Written parental consent — described in the circular as a No-Objection Certificate — is mandatory before any student joins. Schools that fail to submit timetables on time will receive a deficiency note.
The circular sits inside Delhi's broader heat-protocol session — the directorate had already ordered schools onto early-morning timings in April. Earlier this year the same directorate barred schools from collecting fees more than a month in advance — see the seven-day fee compliance order — making this the third major operational circular Delhi schools have absorbed in the 2026-27 ramp.
Schools must email or upload signed remedial timetables to their respective Zone DDE before May 11 morning, the directorate said. Parents can withhold consent if they want their child to skip remedials; in such cases schools must record the refusal in the same online attendance system. The directorate will inspect compliance through the period.

For Delhi schools running remedial timetables:
- Mark daily class attendance — mark the 7:30-10:30 AM slot per student and per period
- Monthly attendance register — register grid handles the half-day pattern without breaking the running monthly count
- Student documents management — store parental NOC consent forms searchable per student
Modules this affects:
- Student attendance — separate record category for 'remedial morning' so it doesn't fold into vacation totals
- Examinations — Class 10 phase-2 prep flows from these morning sessions into the May 15 exam window
