Inkwelly launches India's first AI-native school ERP
Inkwelly has launched what it says is India's first AI-native school ERP — letting schools connect their own AI assistant, such as ChatGPT or Claude, directly to their live school data and get answers to everyday questions in plain language.
Noida, 4 July 2026 — Inkwelly, the school management platform used by schools across India, has launched what it says is the country's first AI-native school ERP: a way for a school to connect its own AI assistant — such as ChatGPT or Claude — directly to its live school data, and get answers to everyday questions in plain language.
Until now, "AI" in Indian school software has usually meant a chatbot bolted onto a website, or face-recognition for attendance. Inkwelly's approach is different. Instead of building one more bot, it lets the AI assistants school staff already use read the school's own fee and student information and answer questions about it — "who hasn't paid this term?", "how much have we collected this month?", "how many students joined class 6 this year?" — with no exports, no reports to configure and no training. AI assistants have only recently gained a safe, standard way to connect to trusted business software; Inkwelly is among the first school platforms anywhere, and the first in India, to open its data to them in this way.
What's new
- Schools connect their own AI assistant — ChatGPT or Claude today, with more to follow — to Inkwelly in a one-time setup
- Staff ask questions in plain English or Hindi, the way they would ask a colleague
- Answers cover fees and money — dues, defaulter lists, collections and a student's full fee ledger
- Answers cover student information — profiles, class and section head-counts, and documents on file
- The assistant is read-only: it can look and answer, but never collect a fee, edit a record or send a message
- School data stays in Inkwelly, hosted in India, and the connection can be switched off at any time
"Every ERP raced to add a chatbot. We asked a simpler question — what if a principal could just ask their own AI about their own school and get a straight answer?" said Jharendra A Verma, Founder of Inkwelly. "We built Inkwelly for the AI era, so the software answers to you, instead of making you dig for every number."
The capability is rolling out to Inkwelly schools in stages, beginning with questions about fees and students — the two areas school offices ask about most — and expanding to attendance, examinations, transport and staff over the coming releases. Schools interested in early access can request it during a demo, or read how it works on the Inkwelly AI page.
