NEW DELHI, May 4 — The Central Board of Secondary Education has issued a fresh warning to 46 lakh students that 'leaked Class 12 result PDFs' circulating on Telegram and YouTube are scams, with cyber-cell FIRs being filed against operators under the IT Act and Indian Penal Code. The advisory, originally issued in February, has been re-circulated as the result window approaches the third week of May.
Result-day fraud rackets re-emerge every May. This year's pattern: WhatsApp and Telegram channels selling 'pre-released' Class 12 marksheet PDFs for ₹500 to ₹2,000, YouTube creators promising 'early access' through paid links, and websites masquerading as cbseresults.nic.in with one-letter typos in the URL. The board's controller of examinations Sanyam Bhardwaj has separately rejected reports of On-Screen Marking glitches that the same channels have been amplifying.
The CBSE advisory issued in February — and re-pinned this week — names the modus operandi explicitly. "Once the money is transferred, either nothing is sent or fabricated and edited images of previous-year question papers are shared," the board said in its notice. The advisory adds that those circulating fake leak material will be reported to the Cyber Police and an FIR registered under the IT Act and the Indian Penal Code. The board has asked schools to forward the official advisory to every parent group on WhatsApp and to read it out at the morning assembly during result week.
This is the third year running the fake-leak racket has hit CBSE result week, and the pattern is hardening. The board's last result-window confirmation — third week of May — was followed within 48 hours by a spike in 'leaked PDF' Telegram channels per anti-fraud trackers. School offices are seeing a surge in parent calls demanding to know if the 'WhatsApp PDF' they received is real.
The official result will land only at cbseresults.nic.in, cbse.gov.in and the DigiLocker app. No third-party site, no paid Telegram channel, no YouTube subscriber-only link. CBSE has asked schools to direct parents to those three channels and to ignore everything else.

Frequently asked
2 questionsWhere is the only legitimate place to check the CBSE Class 12 Result 2026?
Three places. (1) cbseresults.nic.in — the official results portal. (2) cbse.gov.in — the board's main website. (3) The DigiLocker app, where the marksheet is auto-pushed to every registered Class 12 student. Anything else — Telegram channel, YouTube link, third-party website with a typo in the URL — is a scam.
What should a school office do when parents forward a 'leaked PDF' on the WhatsApp parent group?
Reply once with the official advisory link, ask the parent to delete the message, and pin the three official check-points (cbseresults.nic.in, cbse.gov.in, DigiLocker) at the top of the parent group. The school can also forward the message metadata to the local cyber-cell — every reported channel helps the takedown queue.
