Switch on Mobile Check-in, drop a pin on your campus and set a radius: from that moment your teachers and staff can check in and out from the Inkwelly app, and the day marks itself Present or Late.
What shipped
Staff attendance in most Indian schools still means a signature register, or a fingerprint machine at one gate with a PC that has to stay switched on for the punches to arrive. With this release the teacher's own phone becomes the punch device. The school draws a circle around its campus in the employee attendance module and switches Mobile Check-in on; every teacher and staff member then sees a Check in button in the Inkwelly app, on the attendance screen, the Today tab and the home screen. A tap inside the circle records the punch with the server's clock, and the teacher sees a receipt at once: the time, on time or late by how many minutes, and the distance from the gate. Outside the circle, from a fake-GPS app, from a stale or weak fix, or in the wrong order, the punch is refused with a plain reason — and the office sees the attempt. No device, no PC, no bridge, and nothing to enrol: a teacher who joins on Monday has the button on Monday.

- Check in and Check out from the Inkwelly app, accepted only inside a named campus circle with a radius you choose — 50 metres to 5 kilometres, 150 metres suits most campuses
- Server-side checks on every tap: right in/out order, a fresh and precise GPS fix, no mock-location app, the department's punch hours, and a 60-second double-tap guard
- An optional selfie rule per school — the app opens the front camera before the punch, and the photo shows beside it on the admin's screen
- Department exclusions, so drivers and field staff keep using off-campus requests while everyone else uses the phone
- A new Mobile Check-in screen under Settings with the switch, the map, the radius, the selfie rule and the exclusions, plus an Activity tab: day summary, every accepted punch with distance, accuracy, device and selfie, and every refused attempt with its reason
- Automatic late marking for every punch source — phone, fingerprint machine or office entry — from each department's late-coming time and grace period, feeding the late tracker, monthly register and salary summary
- Mobile and biometric punches merge into one day: a machine check-in at the gate means the phone offers Check out
Where to find it
On the web, open Employee Attendance, then Settings, then Mobile Check-in. Drop the pin, set the radius, choose whether to ask for a selfie, exclude any department that is never on campus, and save. The Activity tab on the same screen shows today's punches and refusals the moment the first teacher taps. In the app, the button appears on the attendance screen and the Today tab for everyone the setting covers. 3 questionsDo we have to do anything to get mobile check-in?
Only switch it on. Open Employee Attendance, then Settings, then Mobile Check-in; drop a pin on your campus, set a radius and save. Until then nothing changes for your school, and your biometric machine keeps working as before.
Will our existing staff attendance change?
Late marking now runs from each department's late-coming time and grace period for every punch source, including the fingerprint machine and office entries. Check those two settings per department once before payroll day; a department without time settings is never marked late.
Which phones does it work on?
Any Android phone or iPhone running the Inkwelly app with location switched on. It needs a mobile data or Wi-Fi connection at the moment of the tap; there is deliberately no check-in from the web portal, because a laptop's location is a guess.
