Inkwelly vs Teachmint. Different halves of the school.
This is less a competition than a distinction. Teachmint grew up in the classroom — teaching, content, assessments. Inkwelly grew up in the office — admissions, fees, attendance, payroll, transport, board paperwork. Plenty of schools genuinely should run both.

Where the line falls
If your problem is classroom delivery — lesson content, teaching material, student practice — that's Teachmint's home ground and we don't pretend otherwise.
If your problem is that admissions live in one register, fees in a second, marks in a third, and the principal can't answer "how much did we collect this month" without asking three people, that's the problem Inkwelly was built for.
Side by side
| Inkwelly | Teachmint | |
|---|---|---|
| Built around | School operations — office, fees, records | Classroom — teaching and learning |
| Fee collection | Full ledger: invoices, part payments, discounts, fines, cheques, Tally export | Fee collection available; less depth on ledger edge cases |
| Board report cards | CBSE, ICSE/ISC, IB, IGCSE, State boards and NIOS formats | Report cards available; board-specific formats vary |
| Payroll & HR | Staff attendance, leave, PF, TDS, Form 16 | Not the product's focus |
| Transport | Routes, GPS tracking, pickup and drop alerts to parents | Not the product's focus |
| Live classes | Not our focus — we schedule into Zoom or Google Meet | Core strength |
Where Teachmint is the better choice: if what you actually need is teaching content and classroom delivery, buy the classroom product. We schedule classes through the timetable and hand off to Zoom or Meet — we are not trying to be a teaching platform, and a school that needs one should not buy an ERP instead.
Running both
This is a normal arrangement and we're happy to support it. Teachmint handles the classroom; Inkwelly handles admissions, fees, attendance, transport, payroll and parent communication. The overlap is small enough that it rarely causes friction.
The one thing to decide up front is which system is the source of truth for the student list, so a new admission or a transfer doesn't have to be typed twice. In practice that's Inkwelly, because admission is where a student record begins.
Frequently asked
What does Inkwelly cost?
₹49–₹199 per student per year, flat at any school size — no enrolment slabs and no per-module upsell. A 500-student school on the middle plan is about ₹49,500 a year. Migration, training and setup are ₹0. The only external costs are WhatsApp message fees and your payment gateway's transaction charge, both billed at cost.
How quickly can we go live?
Go-live can be the next working day. You pick the date; we don't need months of parallel running to get there. Bringing across years of historical records — old marks, past fee ledgers, archived certificates — runs on its own track afterwards and doesn't hold up day one.
Can we try it before committing?
90-day paid pilot on your real data. If it isn't working at day 90, pro-rata refund and your data back in standard formats. We don't offer a free trial on dummy data — it proves nothing to either of us. The pilot runs on your real students, your real fees.
Can we keep Teachmint and add Inkwelly?
Yes, and a fair number of schools do exactly that. Teachmint for classes, Inkwelly for the office. Decide which one owns the student list — usually Inkwelly, since admission is where the record starts — and the rest sits comfortably alongside.
Does Inkwelly do online classes?
No, and deliberately. We schedule classes into your timetable and link out to Zoom or Google Meet. Building a video platform would be a worse use of our time than making fee collection and board report cards genuinely good.
We're a small school. Is a full ERP overkill?
Not at the price. ₹49–₹199 per student per year with every module included means a small school isn't paying for scale it doesn't have. The question worth asking is whether your office work is currently spread across registers and spreadsheets — if it is, size isn't the deciding factor.
Our teachers aren't confident with software. Will they actually use it?
The teacher app does one thing well — attendance and marks, in under a minute a class, on any Android phone, in Hindi or your regional language. We do a full day of on-site training at go-live and stay on WhatsApp through the first month. If a teacher is still struggling after that, we come back at no cost.
