Inkwelly vs MyClassboard. For schools that outgrew the app.

MyClassboard is an established Indian school ERP with a large installed base, particularly in the south. Schools come to us from it for two reasons, and neither of them is the feature list.

The two reasons schools move

The first is the parent app. Asking every parent to install and keep a school-specific app is a tax you pay forever — on admission, on every phone change, on every parent who never gets round to it. The office ends up maintaining two channels, and the app becomes the one that only half the parents see.

The second is what happens when something needs fixing. Schools tell us the gap between raising an issue and someone who understands the product looking at it is the thing that wears them down — not the issue itself.

Side by side

Drawn from what schools tell us while we migrate them, and from each vendor's public material. Products change — check anything that matters to you directly with the vendor before you decide.

Where MyClassboard is the better choice: if your parents are already installed, active and happy in their app, that's genuine engagement and it has real value — moving them to WhatsApp gains you less than it costs. And if you specifically want a branded app presence in the app stores under your school's name, that's a product decision we've made differently.

What the fee office notices first

  • Reminders reach parents, because WhatsApp gets opened and SMS doesn't.
  • Payments reconcile themselves across UPI, Razorpay, PayU, Paytm, Cashfree and direct ICICI, HDFC and SBI transfers.
  • Receipts, chalans and defaulter lists come out without anyone building a report.
  • One click exports to Tally, so the accounts handover stops being a monthly evening's work.

How the move works

We pull students, parents, fee history, marks, attendance and staff records out of MyClassboard, clean the usual damage — duplicate siblings, dead phone numbers, students sitting in the wrong class — and load it into a staging school for you to check.

Go-live can be the next working day. You pick the date; we don't need months of parallel running to get there. ₹0 migration, ₹0 training, ₹0 setup. Data extraction from your current system — or from Excel if the vendor won't cooperate — is on us.

Frequently asked

What does Inkwelly cost?

₹49–₹199 per student per year, flat at any school size — no enrolment slabs and no per-module upsell. A 500-student school on the middle plan is about ₹49,500 a year. Migration, training and setup are ₹0. The only external costs are WhatsApp message fees and your payment gateway's transaction charge, both billed at cost.

How quickly can we go live?

Go-live can be the next working day. You pick the date; we don't need months of parallel running to get there. Bringing across years of historical records — old marks, past fee ledgers, archived certificates — runs on its own track afterwards and doesn't hold up day one.

Can we try it before committing?

90-day paid pilot on your real data. If it isn't working at day 90, pro-rata refund and your data back in standard formats. We don't offer a free trial on dummy data — it proves nothing to either of us. The pilot runs on your real students, your real fees.

Our parents already have the MyClassboard app installed. Won't moving to WhatsApp confuse them?

In our experience it's the opposite — parents stop having to remember a login. But be honest with yourself about your own numbers first: if most of your parents are genuinely active in the app today, that's real engagement and you should weigh it. Ask us to show you the WhatsApp flow on a demo and judge it against what you actually see.

Do we lose our fee history?

No. Paid invoices, receipts, adjustments and outstanding balances all come across, so a parent's ledger reads continuously across the switch. That matters at audit time and it matters the first time a parent disputes a payment.

What about parents without a smartphone?

Every WhatsApp notification falls back to SMS. Printed receipts, fee chalans and report cards stay available exactly as now. The aim is to serve the 95% on WhatsApp properly without cutting off the 5%.

Where is our data, and can we get it out?

Hosted on AWS Mumbai. Daily encrypted backups, role-based access, and a full export in standard formats whenever you ask — including on the way out.
