Running on Excel and Google Sheets? Here's what moving to Inkwelly looks like.
Excel is the silent default for thousands of Indian schools — fees, attendance, salary, admissions, marks all live in scattered spreadsheets. Inkwelly replaces them with one ledger, one login, and WhatsApp-native parent communication.
What Excel does well — and where it breaks
Excel is cheap, familiar, and flexible. It also doesn't send fee reminders, doesn't message parents, doesn't reconcile with your bank, and doesn't tell you who's absent today. When a school crosses 500 students, the office starts losing hours every week to Excel reconciliation.
How migration works
Step 1: You send us your current Excels — student list, fee structure, receipts, attendance, staff salary sheet. No format requirements; we've seen it all.
Step 2: We clean, normalise, and load into a staging Inkwelly tenant. Typically a week.
Step 3: You log in and review. We adjust fee heads, class structure, report card formats to match your school exactly.
Step 4: Go-live on the 1st of a chosen month. Training on-site for a day. WhatsApp support for the first month.
What you get on day one

- One-minute classroom attendance on any Android phone.

Frequently asked
We're comfortable with Excel. Why switch?
Excel scales poorly past a few hundred students. You'll notice when: (1) fee reconciliation takes hours each month, (2) you can't message parents at scale, (3) report cards take days to prepare, (4) a staff member leaves and takes their Excels with them.
Will we lose our Excel history?
No. We preserve every historical fee, mark, and attendance record in Inkwelly's database. Your Excels remain as a backup. You can export data from Inkwelly at any time in standard formats.
Can small schools afford Inkwelly?
Per-student pricing typically works out to ₹1–3 lakh per school per year. For a 500-student school that's under ₹30/student/month — less than one phone recharge. The time saved in the office usually pays for it in a month.
What if we want to go back to Excel?
We support full data export in CSV and Excel formats at any time. 90-day pilot with data-back refund means the switch carries almost no risk.
