School management for NIOS centres. For learners who don't move in a cohort.
Almost all school software assumes an annual cohort — everyone joins in April, moves up together, sits the same exams. NIOS breaks that assumption on purpose, and software built around it fights you every day.

Where conventional school software breaks
A NIOS learner accumulates subject credits across sessions rather than passing a year. They may sit one subject this session and three the next, carry credits from a previous board, and take an exam on demand rather than in a fixed window. Some are fifteen and some are thirty-five.
Force that into a class-and-section structure and the record stops meaning anything. Inkwelly holds the learner and their subject credits as the primary record, with the batch as a convenience rather than the thing everything hangs off.
What NIOS centres get
- Credit accumulation tracked per subject across multiple sessions, with what's complete and what's outstanding visible at a glance.
- Transfer of credit from a previous board recorded against the learner.
- On-demand exam registrations tracked per subject rather than per term.
- Practical and tutor-marked assignment completion held alongside theory.
- Enrolment at any point in the year, without pretending the learner joined in April.
- Fees charged per subject or per session, matching how NIOS learners actually pay.
Talking to adult learners
A large share of NIOS learners are adults, often working, and the parent-communication model most school software assumes doesn't apply. Messages go to the learner directly, on WhatsApp, about their own registrations, assignment deadlines and exam dates.
Where a learner is a minor, the parent channel works exactly as it does anywhere else in Inkwelly. The two coexist rather than one being bolted on.
Frequently asked
Our learners don't sit in classes. Does the structure still apply?
The learner and their subject credits are the primary record; batches are optional grouping for your convenience. You're not forced to invent a class for someone who doesn't attend one.
Can we track credits carried over from a previous board?
Yes. Transfer of credit is recorded per subject against the learner, so what remains to be completed is always clear rather than being worked out by hand each session.
We enrol continuously, not once a year.
That's the assumption the system is built on for NIOS centres. Enrolment happens whenever it happens, and fees follow per subject or per session rather than per annual term.
Most of our learners are adults.
Then communication goes to them directly on WhatsApp — registrations, assignment deadlines, exam dates. For minors, the parent channel works as normal, and a centre with both runs both.
How quickly can we go live?
Go-live can be the next working day. You pick the date; we don't need months of parallel running to get there. Bringing across years of historical records — old marks, past fee ledgers, archived certificates — runs on its own track afterwards and doesn't hold up day one.
What does Inkwelly cost?
₹49–₹199 per student per year, flat at any school size — no enrolment slabs and no per-module upsell. A 500-student school on the middle plan is about ₹49,500 a year. Migration, training and setup are ₹0. The only external costs are WhatsApp message fees and your payment gateway's transaction charge, both billed at cost.
