The assessment structure, as it stands
For classes 9 and 10, the 20-mark internal component splits four ways — periodic test, multiple assessment, portfolio and subject enrichment, five marks each — against an 80-mark annual or board paper. Inkwelly holds each of those four as its own column, so a teacher enters what they actually assessed rather than reverse-engineering a total.
For classes 6 to 8, the pattern is periodic test, notebook submission and subject enrichment against the annual paper. For 11 and 12, theory and practical or internal components are tracked per subject as the scheme for that subject requires.
Class 10 now runs across more than one board exam window in a year. Where a student sits an improvement attempt, the record keeps both results against the student rather than overwriting the first — which matters when a transfer certificate or a school-leaving record is produced later.

The paperwork nobody enjoys
Transfer certificates in CBSE's prescribed format, generated from the student record with your letterhead and the principal's signature, and numbered in a register you can produce at inspection. Bonafide certificates, character certificates and migration certificates come off the same record.
Fee structure can be published as a schedule for your school website, which is what most affiliated schools use to meet their disclosure obligations. Student and staff data exports line up with the formats you need for UDISE+ and for your own affiliation paperwork.

Frequently asked
Does Inkwelly still use CCE?
No, and that's deliberate. CBSE replaced CCE in 2017. We follow the current scheme — the four-part 20-mark internal component against the 80-mark paper for classes 9 and 10, and periodic test, notebook and subject enrichment for 6 to 8. If your current software still talks about FA and SA, that's a reasonable sign of how closely it's been kept up.
Can we produce CBSE-format transfer certificates?
Yes — in the prescribed format, on your letterhead, with the principal's signature and a serial number recorded in a TC register you can produce at inspection. Bonafide, character and migration certificates work the same way.
We're adopting the Holistic Progress Card. Is it supported?
Yes, for the foundational, preparatory and middle stages. It runs alongside the conventional report card rather than replacing it, because most schools are running both during the transition and need to keep issuing the familiar one to parents.
We run CBSE and a state board on the same campus. Does that work?
Yes. Each board keeps its own class structure, assessment scheme, report card format and fee schedule under one school. Staff and parents see one system; the academics stay properly separate.
What about the two Class 10 exam windows?
Both attempts sit on the student's record. Nothing overwrites, so when you issue a transfer certificate or a school-leaving record later, the history reads correctly.
How quickly can we go live?
Go-live can be the next working day. You pick the date; we don't need months of parallel running to get there. Bringing across years of historical records — old marks, past fee ledgers, archived certificates — runs on its own track afterwards and doesn't hold up day one.
