Phone check-in now needs the right face.
Switch on Face Lock, and a phone check-in counts only when the Inkwelly app's front camera sees that staff member, live, and the face matches the one your school approved.
What shipped
Mobile check-in made the teacher's own phone the punch device: a tap inside the campus circle, a server-clock time, and a refusal for fake GPS. It proved the phone was on campus — not who was holding it. A colleague with a shared login, or a selfie nobody opened, was still enough for a proxy punch. Face Lock closes that gap. Pick Face verified in the mobile check-in settings, and every phone punch now asks the staff member to look at the front camera and turn their head in a direction picked at random. The punch counts only when it is one real, live person and the face matches the one an admin approved. Staff register their face once in the Inkwelly app, after a consent note in English or Hindi. When the check blocks someone honest — bad light, a new phone — they ask an admin to approve, and the approved punch keeps its original time, so nobody is marked late for it. Where to find it
On the web, open Employee Attendance, then Settings, then Mobile Check-in. Under Proof at check-in, pick Face verified, choose Free, Smart or Bank-grade, set the Face required from date and save. The Faces tab shows how many staff are ready and lets you approve faces, exempt staff and remind anyone who has not registered. The Approvals tab holds blocked check-ins waiting for a decision, and the Activity tab shows every punch with its face result. In the Inkwelly app, staff find Face check-in on the attendance screen, and the app asks them to register the next time they check in. Admins can approve faces and blocked check-ins from the same app, from the approvals inbox of the employee attendance module.

3 questionsDo we have to do anything to get Face Lock?
Only switch it on. Open Employee Attendance, then Settings, then Mobile Check-in, pick Face verified under Proof at check-in, set a Face required from date and save. Until then nothing changes, and mobile check-in keeps working exactly as it does today.
Will our staff need to update the app?
Yes. Face Lock needs the latest Inkwelly app on Android from the Play Store. Staff on an older version keep checking in with a selfie during the practice period, and the app asks them to update after the Face required from date. The Faces tab shows who is still on an old app.
Does Face Lock cost extra?
The Free level runs on Inkwelly's own servers at no extra cost. Smart and Bank-grade use certified checks that are paid per check, so Inkwelly enables them for a school with a monthly allowance. When the allowance runs out, the Free check takes over until the month ends, and nobody is locked out.
